Revolution, A Call to Arms

The Belton Area Museum Association (BAMA), in conjunction with the WebbCraft Family Foundation, SC 250, Anderson County ATAX and the City of Belton HTAX, invites the community to experience its newest exhibit, Revolution: A Call to Arms.

The exhibit will open with a special exhibit celebration on Sunday, September 13, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the historic Belton Train Depot. The event is free and open to the public, and everyone is invited to attend.

Revolution: A Call to Arms offers visitors an opportunity to step back into the turbulent years of the American Revolution and explore the people, objects and experiences that shaped South Carolina and the nation. The exhibit features artifacts connected to our founding fathers, along with the South Carolina State Museum’s traveling exhibit, The American Revolutionary War in South Carolina.

The opening celebration will offer hands-on activities for visitors of all ages. Guests can:

  • Make their own tricorn hat
  • Play children’s games popular during Revolutionary times
  • Sample patriotic foods
  • Dress in period clothing and take photographs
  • Meet a Revolutionary militiaman and hear about the hardships and experiences
  • of life as a soldier
  • Take home SC 250 commemorative swag
  • Explore the exhibit and learn more about South Carolina’s important role in the American Revolution

Following the opening celebration, the exhibit will remain on display through December 19. Visitors may view Revolution: A Call to Arms during regular museum hours: Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon. Group tours may be arranged by contacting Executive Director Abigail Burden at 864-338-7400.  This exhibit is part of Belton’s SC250 Revolutionary South Carolina activities.

Community Calendar Policy

1. The Community Calendar is for the promotion of special local events hosted by non-profit organizations, the City of Belton and Anderson County.

2. Organizations may submit special public events and annual fund raisers (but not regular meetings or private event announcements) to be posted.

3. Calendar items may be static or may include a link to the website of the sponsor organization to provide additional information.

4. The Belton Alliance will attempt to reflect accurate information on the Community Calendar, but cannot take responsibility for the accuracy of information provided by any organization.

5. The Belton Alliance retains the final authority to determine if an event may be posted on the Community Calendar.
