The Belton Museum is 50 years old!  This will be a birthday bash and exhibit celebrating all the Belton Area Museum Association has done over the last 50 years.  The exhibit will showcase some of the first artifacts collected for the museum, many which have not be on display for years.  It will also highlight businesses in Belton that have been around as long or longer than the museum, including Belton Metal Corporation, Belton Industries, Maynard’s Home Furnishings, Bell’s Garage, Palmetto Insurance/Keys Agency, Clinkscales Chevrolet, Holloway’s Funeral Home, Cox Funeral Home, Anderson School District 32, and Southern Burglar & Fire Alarm company.  In addition to memorabilia from these companies, a section highlighting what life was like 50 years ago adds a retro look at fads, fashions, politics, culture, and entertainment of the 1970’s.  There will be a place for visitors to share their wishes for the next 50 years of the museum.  The exhibit will remain on display during regular museum hours through December 19.
