Christ Church of Greenville won 5 of 6 flights to earn 34 points and capture their second straight Chick-fil-A of Anderson Hall of Fame Classic high school girls tennis tournament played in Belton September 26-27.  Rain Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning forced the tournament to cancel all consolation matches Sunday and go to a shortened scoring format to complete the event.  T. L. Hanna had the only other flight champion and finished second with 22 points.  This was Christ Church’s third tournament title; they also won in 2010 and 2014.  Final team results were:

• #4 Singles: Anna Thompson (CC) def. Westley Cannon (GV) 8-4
• #5 Singles: Mary Philpot (CC) def. Summer Robinson (TLH) 8-3
• #2 Doubles: Paula Pieper & Jenna Taylor (CC) def. Alston Lucas & Sophie Young (GV) 8-3
• #1 Doubles: Did not play due to rain

B-HP’s Gracie Bratcher won the only match for the Bears in the longest match of the tournament, defeating #4 seed Bethany Tankersly of Travlers Rest in the first round 6-7, 7-7, 13-11.  Other B-HP results were:

• #1 Singles-Faith Callaham lost Layton Powell GV) 6-0, 6-0 and Eleanor Campbell (JLM) 6-0, 6-2
• #2 Singles-Sarah Price lost Emma Reany (TR) 6-1, 6-01 and Lauren Cupple (JLM) 6-3, 6-2
• #3 Singles-Baily Kelly-Beal lost Nila Veerabagu (CC) 6-3, 6-0; she was a set down and tied at 3-all in the second set against Ceara Dias (TR) when consolation play was cancelled.
• #4 Singles-Gracie Brather def. Bethany Tankersly (TR) 6-7, 7-6, 13-11 and lost to Anna Thompson (CC) 6-0, 6-0
• #5 Singles-Kenyelta Andferson lost Olivia Gross (GV) 6-2, 6-3 and Kiya Davis (IR) 6-3, 6-3
• #1 Doubles-Ellen Blake and Beth Wilson lost McGregor and Stephens (TR) 6-2, 6-4 and Featherstone and Simmons (JLM) 6-3, 6-3

All of B-HP’s final round consolation matches were cancelled.
