Belton Celebrates 250!

Belton Celebrates 250! The Belton Alliance, the City of Belton, local non-profits and SC250 are partnering together to celebrate American’s 250th birthday with events throughout the year. Check out the Revolutionary South Carolina…Be a Part of It in Belton! billboards in town. All events are open to the public and are FREE. Events currently scheduled promoting SC250 include:
- July, August & September: The Belton Alliance in conjunction with SC250 will have four Revolutionary South Carolina billboards in Belton with a message to “Be a Part of It in Belton!” and featuring the SC250 logo and the Belton Alliance website.
- July 10-11: The Belton Tennis Association will host the annual Special Population Unified Doubles (SPUD) tournament, with teams displaying patriotic red, white, blue and silver colors and the SC250 logo. Matches will be played all day Friday, July 10 and Saturday morning, July 11 at the Belton Tennis Center and Leda Poore Park. The event concludes with an awards ceremony at the Belton Tennis Center at 12:30.
- Date TBD in August: The Belton Tennis Association will host a Red, White & Blue event using red balls and short courts from 6:30 to 8:00 on a date TBD. This is a free event open to everyone. Watch for further details.
- September 15: The Belton Area Museum Association will host the opening exhibit of Revolution, Call to Arms. The exhibit will feature artifacts from Revolutinary War days and also include the State Museum’s traveling exhibit. The exhibit will remain on display during regular museum hours through December 19. At least one guest speaker will be scheduled to speak on the American Revolution during the exhibit. - September 26-27: The Belton Tennis Association will host the 40th Chick-fil-A of Anderson Hall of Fame Classic, honoring the South Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame located in the Belton Depot. This year the tournament will feature the tournament’s 40th year and use patriotic color t-shirts and the SC250 logo. The tournament will include eight top high school girls team from around the state including Belton-Honea Path, defending champion AC Flora, JL Mann, TL Hanna, Daniel, Spartanburg, Chapin and Waccamaw. Matches will be played at the Belton Tennis Center, Leda Poore Park and Belton-Honea Path High School throughout both days.
- October 4: Anderson County will host a parade in Anderson and are asking all municipalities in the county to participate. Watch for further details.
- October 1-3: The Belton Area Museum Association will present Heritage Days at the Historic Belton Depot, featuring artisans showing their wares and skills from the 1700’s.
- October 3: The City of Belton will host the annual Standpipe Festival from 11:00 to 9:00 On The Square in downtown Belton. The Festival will feature food and craft vendors, a car show, historical tours, live music and fireworks to celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary.
- November 11: American Legion Post No. 51 will host a Veteran’s Day Celebration honoring our military veterans at the Veteran’s Memorial on Anderson Street. Lieutenant Rex Alderman Rice, who was killed in action during World War II when his B52 bomber was shot down, will be the designated 2026 honoree.
