The Belton Area Museum Association announces two weeks of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) summer camps for children.  These camps will be held at the museum on July 17 -19 and July 24 – 26.

This year’s focus is on water.

Water is one of the world’s greatest resources, and it is found everywhere that life is found. From the oceans covering 3/4 of the planet to the 60% water make-up of the human body, water is essential to life and its processes. But it is also a limited resource, and we must be good stewards of this important life-sustaining element.

Children 7 – 12 years old are invited to join the camps, held on  three days from 10 am – noon, where they will focus on the science of water and water conservation.

The first week of camp Water, Water, Everywhere, will be held July 17 – 19.  Children will discover the power of water, the science behind water, and the importance of water to everyday life.  Campers will learn how water properties help plants grow, are used to create music and art, and affect everyday experiences.

The second week of camp, held July 24-26, is A Limited Resource:  Water Ecology and Conservation. During these three days from10 am – noon, children will discover the various uses of water, the adaptations of animals and plants to water, the resources creating potable water,  and the ways that each person can conserve water usage.

Engaging speakers will be a part of these interesting summer camp experiences.  There will also be hands-on learning experiences and experiments to keep those active students engaged.

Cost is $55 per child for non-members, $45 per child for BAMA members. Each camp is limited to 15 children, so call the museum today to reserve your child’s spot.
