Gemstones and Dinosaur Bones Exhibit

The exhibit Gemstones and Dinosaur Bones features opened with a celebration Sunday, Sept. 18,  and includes a collection of rocks, fossils, bones, and gemstones!

“We are lucky to have amazing collectors of fossils and gemstones in our area,” said BAMA executive director Abigail Burden. “These collections serve as the basis for our exhibit along with loaned items from the Bob Campbell Geological Museum at Clemson University.”

The display is housed in the 1200 square foot North End Gallery of the historic Belton Depot and includes 450-million year old fossils, luminescent rocks,  examples of amethysts uncovered during the largest find in North America, jewelry made from unique gemstones, historical items associated with digs, and interactive activities for visitors of all ages to enjoy.

Thanks to the patronage of Diamond Hill Mine, City of Belton HTAX, Anderson County ATAX, S and M Auto Parts, Uncle Bob’s Cave, and Phil’s Jewelers, the exhibit is free to all visitors.

Don’t hesitate to come see this wonderful exhibit during museum hours Wednesday thru Friday, 9 til 2, and Saturday, 9 til 1 until Dec. 31.
