Belton-Honea Path’s 2 points were earned by Ellen Blake and Kenyetta Anderson who won their final matches at #4 and #5 singles Sunday morning.

Tournament Director Rex Maynard said:  “This might have been the best Hall of Fame Classic ever.  We had close competition, some great matches and the coaches and players were great.  The weather was a little warm, but it sure beat the rain we had last year.  We appreciate the coaches and players giving up their weekend to compete in Belton, and hope they will find it beneficial as they play the second half of their season and approach the playoffs.”

The Hall of Fame Classic is hosted annually by the Belton Tennis Association and sponsored by Chick-fil-A of Anderson.

Belton will host a tournament for the second straight weekend this Friday, Saturday and Sunday when the South Carolina Men’s Collegiate Championships sponsored by AnMed Health will be played during Standpipe Festival weekend.  Over 50 player are expected to compete.  Schools sending players include Clemson, South Carolina, Furman, Wofford, The Citadel, Presbyterian, Coastal Carolina and Lander,  State championships will be determined in singles and doubles.  This will be the third year for the tournament, which is played in memory of Big Jim Russell.  Last year’s tournament was moved to indoor courts at Furman due to heavy rains throughout the weekend.
