Burden Named New Museum Director

The Belton Area Museum Association has announced Abigail Burden is the new Museum Director.  She replaces Kathy Benson, who recently moved with her husband to Kentucky.  Abigail has been with BAMA for just over a year as the curator and assistant.

Burden is a 1998 graduate of Ohio Northern University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Spanish.  She received her Masters in Education degree from the University of Phoenix in 2004.  Her husband David is a professor and chair of the history department at Anderson University.  They have resided in Anderson since 2014 and have two children, Nathanael age 7 and Anna Rose age 6.  She enjoys spending her time quilting, scrap booking and reading.

Abigail has previous experience as a middle school and secondary social studies teacher, as a world traveler and as a community volunteer where she has taken on many leadership roles.  BAMA President Jimmy Outz said:  “She just blew us away in her interview.  We are very happy to have her as our new director.  She has a vision for the Museum and a passion for history that will benefit our community.”

Come by and meet Abigail and enjoy a tour of the museum!
